The National Immunisation Program

The National Immunisation Program (NIP) is an Australian Government program that provides FREE vaccines to protect against serious diseases. Vaccines on the NIP are recommended at specific ages and stages of life, based on medical advice.
Who's Eligible?
- Infants and children
- Adolescents (often through school vaccination programs)
- Adults who meet eligibility criteria
- Catch-up vaccinations may be free for people up to 20 years old and some newly arrived refugees/humanitarian entrants
The NIP ensures that everyone in Australia has access to essential vaccines, helping protect individuals and the wider community from preventable diseases.
What's Free?
- Routine Vaccines
- You can check the NIP schedule to see which vaccines you or your family are eligible for and when
- Catch-Up Vaccinations
- If someone missed recommended routine NIP vaccinations in childhood, they may still receive them for free up until age 20
- A Special Catch-Up

What's NOT Free?
Vaccines that are not funded under the national program may require payment. Some vaccines might be funded under NSW programs instead. It's best to check what applies by asking our Pharmacist or seeing the resources below.
Some vaccines, like travel vaccines, may incur a cost as well as the service fee
